A new initiative to draw in retailers has been launched by bosses at the Triangle Shopping Centre in Manchester.
The shopping centre, which currently has just 27 of its 43 retail units occupied, has been affected by the economic downturn, so bosses have decided to launch a short-term, all-inclusive pricing structure to appeal to retailers.
A retail unit can be let for £500 a week, with the price including service charges, rates, water and electricity, while retailers only need to commit to a minimum term of six months. Since the scheme was launched, interest has been high and several units are under offer.
“While the centre is still performing well, it is vitally important to remain proactive in the current economic climate and to be attractive to retailers, especially local independents or new businesses,” said marketing manager at Triangle Shopping Centre Michelle Atack.
“By offering short-term deals and by creating an all encompassing price, vendors know exactly where they stand with their finances, thus minimising the overall risk,” said Atack. “They will also get a feel for the centre and for the city, knowing that further opportunities exist beyond the original lease.”
