Face time: James Timpson on why he gives ex-prisoners a second chance

From free suit cleaning for unemployed people going to job interviews to helping colleagues set up bank accounts and grants for education, shoe repair specialist Timpson is famous for its progressive approach. But the retailer is perhaps best known for its recruitment of ex-offenders.

If there is one group of people where the door to social mobility is often slammed shut, it is those who have been in jail. At Timpson, however, around one in 10 of the workforce have spent time in prison.
