Spar teams up with Esso as preferred choice

Symbol group Spar has formed an alliance with Esso, meaning the petrol giant will recommend the c-store business as the supplier of choice to its independent dealers.

Spar already supplies products to 36 independent Esso forecourts, but this accreditation could open the floodgates. Esso has 400 independently-owned sites and Spar believes that about 200 are of an optimum size.

Spar retail director Steve Blackmore said: 'Those Esso dealers that already operate Spar stores are demonstrating considerable sales increases in what is undeniably the most competitive marketplace for many years. Having been recommended as Esso's symbol group supplier of choice we hope to expand our partnership even further.'
