Amazon and Asda have teamed up to launch parcel pickup and label-free, box-free returns at over 700 of the supermarket’s stores across the UK.
The service is being rolled out in time for the festive season, where Amazon customers can pick up eligible orders from most Asda stores in the country, with more locations due to be added in the coming months.
Asda said the options of pickup and return will make shopping at the supermarket “even more convenient”, as customers can do their weekly shopping and parcel collection or returns in one trip.
The collaboration between the two retailers also reduces the need for extra shipping boxes as customers can return the item in the original manufacturer’s packaging.
For parcel pickups, customers can select a location most convenient for them during checkout. Once the parcel reaches the Asda store, customers will receive an email with the information needed to collect the item.
If a customer needs to return an Amazon order, customers can drop off returns at one of the eligible Asda stores after generating a QR code by visiting the Amazon.co.uk “Your Orders” page, or in the Amazon shopping app. Customers bringing in items for return will then have it packed and shipped at no extra cost.
Amazon UK country manager John Boumphrey said: “We work hard to offer customers low prices on a wide selection of products, with fast, convenient delivery options and easy returns. This collaboration with Asda makes it even easier for customers to pick up ordered items when they’re shopping, or make hassle-free returns at more than 700 locations around the country.”
Asda vice president of logistics Chris Hall added: “Meeting the ever-evolving needs of our customers is a top priority for us at Asda. This collaboration with Amazon just in time for Christmas marks another landmark moment, not just for our larger stores, but our ever-expanding Asda Express convenience estate.
“By bringing essential services like Amazon parcel pickup and return drop-offs closer to where our customers live and work, we’re able to provide greater convenience to more of the communities we serve across the UK.”
