Croydon shopping centre Centrale & Whitgift has announced 12 new signings as owner Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield says demand from occupiers is at an “all-time high”.
The new signings include London’s first store for Loupe, a new luxury diamond, fine jewellery and watch brand, and the return of footwear retailer Deichmann to Croydon.
Loupe, a new venture from Beaverbrooks, opened its 5,350 sq ft store this month as part of a £6m investment. The store includes a 900sq ft showroom.
Centrale & Whitgift has also opened a new 6,458 sq ft Deichmann store as part of a £750,000 investment from the retailer.
Other new signings include Izzy Home Store, a furniture and decor retailer expanding its presence in England, as well as noodle bar Chopstix and historic London brand Pollock’s Toy Museum.
Several national and international brands have renewed their leases including Sarraf Jewellers and outdoor clothing retailer Trespass.
As part of its commitment to supporting the local community, the shopping centre has also renewed leases for Fashion Meets Music, which showcases emerging artists, and Turf Projects, a charity providing free exhibitions and space for local artists.
Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield UK leasing director Kate Orwin said: “Demand from occupiers is at an all-time high, underlined by this recent burst of signings from new and existing brands investing in their physical spaces in Croydon.
“The growing offer at Centrale & Whitgift from high-price-point, luxury British and international high street brands through to grassroots local organisations illustrates the confidence these brands have in Croydon as a thriving destination.
“We are very excited to unveil the latest line-up as we continue to provide a diverse and exciting offer for our customers and the community.”
Mayor of Croydon Jason Perry added: “We welcome these signings by new and existing retailers at Centrale & Whitgift and the local organisations taking up the opportunity to support the Croydon community from this key town centre location.
“This is an exciting time for Croydon and, working with Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, we’re driving forward the regeneration of our town centre.
“It’s been great to see this increased investment and confidence in Centrale & Whitgift centre and we wish these retailers and community groups all the very best in their new town centre spaces.”
