Gap opened a 40th anniversary pop-up store in Kingley Court, off London’s Regent Street, on Thursday.

The two floor store is one of a quartet of pop-ups marking the event. The first opened last month in Los Angeles last month followed by London, New York and Paris.

The London store has two floors, will trade for 19 days and 69 hours (the original Gap store opened in 1969) and on opening day 69 pairs of jeans were on offer for, yes, £19.69.

As well as a sales floor that uses a stripped wood floor, whitewashed walls and retro graphics to foster a spur of the moment aesthetic, there is a basement that will be used to showcase installations during the outlet’s lifetime.
