John Lewis opened its first ‘click-and-commute’ store in St Pancras railway station today where shoppers can collect items bought on its website.

The 3,000 sq ft shop represents John Lewis’s first presence in a railway station, and is intended to provide a convenient way for shoppers - commuters in particular - to pick up products bought online.

Customers can order products for next-day delivery and pick them up on their way to work. The retailer also hopes to appeal to tourists and holiday-makers using the Eurostar.

The shop, which is open from 7.30am to 9pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 7pm on Sundays, sells an edited selection of electronics, gifts, beauty, home and fashion accessories.

John Lewis director of selling Maggie Porteous said: “Our customers show us that they want different ways to shop that are most convenient for them. John Lewis St Pancras is our latest shop format innovation to meet our customers’ evolving needs serving the station’s travellers.

“Customers can shop and enjoy John Lewis St Pancras’s range of electronics, gifts, beauty, home and fashion products plus click-and-collect, or in this case ‘click-and-commute’, Johnlewis.com purchases.”

Porteous said John Lewis is the first retailer to sell iPads, laptops and cameras at the station.

The shop also sells fashion and home accessories from brands including Ted Baker and beauty ranges from labels including Nails Inc and Molton Brown. Shoppers can snap up luxury gift food from brands including Bollinger and L’Artisan Du Chocolat.

The St Pancras shop follows John Lewis’s first retail travel store in Heathrow’s Terminal 2, which opened in June.

John Lewis St Pancras branch manager Ben Pearson said: “I’m immensely proud to be branch manager at this new type of John Lewis shop. My team and I look forward to delighting St Pancras travellers passing through the station each day, as well as the local residential population and playing an active part in the local community.”
