John Lewis has opened its first home store in Poole, Dorset.
John Lewis at home is the department store’s first stand alone home and electricals offer. At 40,000 sq ft it is a third the size of a typical John Lewis store.
The shop will sell the retailer’s home and electrical goods and also has an espresso bar, customer collection and a gift list service.
The retailer said there could be potential for 20 to 30 new locations for the “at home” stores if the trial proves successful.
John Lewis head of format development Tim Harrison said: “The team has worked incredibly hard to bring our first John Lewis at home to life in just five months. The assortment in Poole is varied and extensive enough to furnish every room in the house and like our full line department stores, John Lewis at home will offer differentiated service, inspiring products and great value.”
