Made.com has opened its first bricks-and-mortar store since being acquired by Next last year, marking its return to the high street.

The homeware retailer’s new 4,000 sq ft store opened last week on Vulcan Road, Sheffield, with products having previously only been available to buy online.

Made said the new store offers customers the chance to shop its range of furniture and lighting with a “distinctively Made look and feel”.

Customers are able to place orders in-store and choose from next-day home delivery as well as click-and-collect options.

A range of its smaller homeware pieces, including cushions, rugs and mirrors, are expected to return to Made and be available to buy in-store from next autumn.

Made head of brand Hollie Parkinson said: “At Made, we believe in great design being accessible to all, and we want to inspire customers to make braver home choices.

”We are thrilled to be launching the store in Sheffield, as it’s a very exciting opportunity to broaden our appeal beyond a traditionally London-centric customer base, which also remains important to us.”

Store manager Lisa Frackleton-Grant added: “We are really excited to launch the first Made store. The products are stunning and we can’t wait for all of our customers to browse the collections.”

It was reported in October that while Made planned to maintain its own brand identity, Next was set to support the brand “operationally and commercially” as it started to embark on expansion plans.

Made was acquired by Next in November 2022 for £3.4m following its collapse into administration.
