Sainsbury’s is hoping to grab a slice of the £13bn lunchtime market with the opening of its first sandwich shop, Fresh Kitchen.
The shop, on London’s Fleet Street, sells hot and cold food to go, similar to established chains such as Pret A Manger and Eat.
In a Twitter Q&A on Tuesday, Sainsbury’s said it would consider delivering to offices and that its hot baguettes were “a winner with the lunchtime crowd”. Sainsbury’s would not comment on potential expansion plans. The store was designed by Twelve Studio.
