Sainsbury’s, Shoezone and Specsavers across England were attacked and looted as the shops were caught in the crossfire of ongoing far-right riots in the country.

A Sainsbury’s Local in Manchester was forced to shut after it was “stormed” by a masked mob on Saturday afternoon, Manchester Evening News reported.

Witnesses said they saw the rioters “grabbing items and throwing them” from the city-centre store, which was forced to shut as a result of the attack.

In Hull, pictures of a Shoe Zone with smashed windows and a fire inside emerged, while a Greggs and Specsavers became the target of men with face coverings throwing stones.

The far-right riots first erupted last week after a mass stabbing in Southport on July 29, after misinformation about the attacker spread online. Widespread disorder in towns and cities across the country followed with areas such as Rotherham, Middlesbrough and Bolton being among the worst affected.

There have been 150 people arrested following the violence and Downing Street confirmed there will be a Cobra emergency response meeting today.
