T-Mobile is halfway through a month-long trial of a Bluetooth marketing system at six of its stores.
The system sends out invites and promotional offers to consumers’ mobile phones via their Bluetooth connection, and invites them in to stores.
T-Mobile said that it had been pleased with the results in terms of increased footfall and sales uplift resulting from the Hypertag system, and is evaluating it with a view to extending its use to more of its stores.
Graphics in the pilot stores’ windows invite customers to turn on the Bluetooth connection on their phone to receive offers, and a spokeswoman said that this meant the company is reaching consumers with an interest in interacting with the company.
