Dune aims to have 250 overseas stores within the next three to four years, up from the 150 shops it had previously planned. 50 will be wholly owned stores and the other 200 will be franchises.
The group currently has about 30 stores overseas, including those it has opened within the past five months in Libya and Malta. It also plans to enter Australia and the US.
The new single trading platform, which comes into operation next month, aims to give customers a consistent shopping experience in every territory. Provided by software provider Concrete, the platform will also replace Dune’s current system of emails, faxes and spreadsheets to allow instant sharing of information.
Dune group head of IT Venn Luscombe-Mahoney said visual merchandising images will be uploaded into the system, allowing international stores to use the same point-of-sale material, signage and fittings “so that customers get the same experience wherever they are”. He added that the platform would improve communication by serving as the group’s intranet.
