Lakeland is to introduce contactless payment in all of its stores this summer.
The kitchenware retailer will bring in the technique across its 57 stores from June 30 after striking a deal with Barclaycard and Visa Europe to offer the service.
Since 2007, Barclays and Barclaycard have issued more than 15m contactless debit and credit cards and installed contactless terminals in more than 56,000 retail outlets combined.
Lakeland operations director Gary Marshall said: “We have strong values of quality and customer care, as a result we’re committed to meeting our customers’ needs – from the items in our range to payments at the till.”
Richard Armstrong, head of UK payment acceptance at Barclaycard, said: “Lakeland’s decision to introduce contactless is great news for a pioneer in home shopping.
“It’s fantastic to see a well known brand such as Lakeland recognising the benefit that contactless technology can bring to their customers and their business.”
