Thorntons has cut discounts and wastage in its stores significantly after introducing a store replenishment system from Aldata.
Discounts have been cut by 45%, and wastage on perishable items by 35%. The system allows the retailer to better forecast replenishment based on demand seen in stores.
The system, which was introduced to stores over seven months last year, has also improved inventory management and automated store replenishment, creating a 13% saving in store time. It tracks sales and automatically replenishes stock.
Thorntons programme manager Jim McLauchlan said that the system “allows managers to concentrate on managing the stores”.
