Tesco opened its new-format department store in the Czech Republic city of Liberec last week.
The 75,350 sq ft store, called My Liberec, trades over two floors – the upper level containing food and the lower carrying men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing, homewares and a beauty department.
The department store is designed to be a step up from a traditional Czech Tesco branch, according to store director Bohumil Zematy, and carries higher quality products.
My Liberec stocks own-brand merchandise such as clothing lines Florence & Fred and Cherokee, but there is no other Tesco branding in the store. Among the other 350 brands are Levi’s, Simon Carter and Energie.
The second department store, My Prague, is set to open in autumn.
