Tesco-owned garden centre Dobbies has opened a “retail village” featuring 13 concessions in its revamped Edinburgh store after investing £1.5m.
The store, which re-opens today, features an area dedicated to concessions from multiple retailers including Lakeland and Edinburgh Woolen Mill.
The reworked store will also include a new covered walkway for plants to help weatherproof the shop after poor weather has hit the home and garden sector, DIY Week reported.
The store at Melville is adjacent to the retailer’s head office and also features a 600-seat restaurant named the Farm Foodhall, which stocks locally-grown products.
Dobbies chief executive James Barnes said that the store would be the “largest garden centre shopping destination in Scotland”.
Barnes added: “We have taken a great deal of care with our planning and investment to ensure we get it right.”
