Tesco is the latest in a long line of retailers to announce its biggest ever sale.
The supermarket giant will launch its£100 million Sale on Boxing Day offering huge savings on many of its products including TVs and laptops.
Tesco commercial director Richard Brasher said: “We know that Boxing Day is a key time for customers looking to save on big-ticket electricals items, home ware, clothing and much more.”
He added: "This Boxing Day we will cut prices on big brand TVs and laptops with discounts including up to£150 off of top-selling LCD TVs and up to£150 off of laptops. Many other products will be half price or more."
Debenhams yesterday also announced the biggest sale of its history and will launch its Sale online on Christmas Day.
It is hoped that huge post-Christmas sales will bring some relief to battered retailers who have experienced slow Christmas trade. Like-for-like sales in the week to December 21 were down 14.25 per cent in non-fashion and 14.3 per cent for fashion retailers, according to figures from BDO Stoy Hayward.
Footfall on Monday pointed to a last minute Christmas rush, however, with footfall up 13.6 per cent.
