Tesco’s online clothing business is to extend its delivery service to international markets.
Launching early this month, the clothing site – www.clothingattesco.com – will initially deliver to countries in the EU ahead of a wider roll out. Tesco expects the service to be popular in markets where F&F is already an established brand and where it has stores, such as, Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary.
It also expects to do well in countries with a high number of British nationals such as Spain and France.
Standard international delivery will take between two and six days and cost from £4.95.
Tesco clothing director Jill Easterbrook said: “Our loyal online following tells us they want to be able to buy fashionable, good value clothes from us and have them sent outside the UK. We think there is a great opportunity to reach British customers who have relocated to countries such as Spain. Our customer call centre frequently receives queries from people all over the world asking whether we can deliver to their country.”
In the last six months, Tesco’s online clothing sales were up 45%.
Easterbrook said: “By offering a delivery service to customers in a number of European countries not only are we testing the popularity of such a service, but also gauging the response to our clothing offer in these new markets.”
This summer Tesco launched click and collect on clothing in the UK at 250 stores. By the end of the year a further 500 shops will offer the service.
