The Body Shop has reported like-for-like sales up 0.2% in the first half of 2010, but slipped in the second quarter 0.1%.
The retailer recorded first half sales to the end of June to E334.3m and second quarter of E170m.
The cosmetics retailer said there are sharp contrasts in retail sales trends with countries such as India, Russia, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia – together with online sales – growing strongly, then a “more difficult situation” in the UK, north America and Japan.
It said it is continuing its strategy of innovations with launches such as DeoDry, the first refillable, aluminium salt free deodorant with volcanic minerals, and Nutriganics, the organically certified skincare range launched in Asia, and rolling out worldwide.
The Body Shop has 2,562 stores globally.
