Furniture and fashion retailer The White Company experienced a 24% surge in Christmas sales as gifts, clothing and fragrance helped pull in shoppers.
The strong performance, recorded in the nine weeks to Christmas Day, was also helped by the opening of the retailer’s first ‘life-style’ store on London’s Sloan Square, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The White Company said it aims to deliver “significant” double digit growth in EBITDA in the year to March.
The White Company managing director Patricia Alford-Burnett said festive trading had been “strong”.
She said: “The weather might have done its best to disrupt us. However, we were able to maximise the benefits of our multi-channel offering, the strength of the White Company brand and delivering the finest quality products at outstanding value for money to ensure that our customers were still able to enjoy a White Company Christmas.”
She added that 2010 had “presented a number of tough challenges”, but added: “We expect to grow sales and profit significantly this financial year.”
In the year to March 27, 2010 White Company reported EBITDA of £7.9m, and sales up 5% to £83.9m
