Less than two months after incumbent departs suddenly, post is filled
Thortons has announced the appointment of John Wall as finance director. He replaces Martin Allen, who's retirement from the post was announced on October 13.

Wall has been acting as interim finance director since then and will assume the permanent role with immediate effect.

Wall has been carrying out a number of interim FD appointments for the past four years, after leaving the FD post at Lee Cooper Group in 2000.

Thorntons executive chairman Christopher Burnett said: 'The board is delighted to welcome John Wall to the business. He has already begun to make a valuable contribution as a member of the executive team, to which he brings a wealth of experience.'
