Off-licence operator Thresher Group is reviving its 40 per cent discount campaign again, making it the third consecutive year the retailer has run the offer.
Threshers, which is running the offer from November 1 until December 2, is one of a string of retailers to circulate money-off vouchers via e-mail in an effort to drive sales. Other companies include Gap and Karen Millen.
The off-licence retailer ran the campaign in December 2006 and 2007, when it sparked a stampede of customers to its web site to download the vouchers.
A Thresher Group spokesperson said: “Following the huge success of the promotion in recent years we are again running our 40 per cent off wine and champagne voucher ahead of the Christmas period.
“We expect the offer, which entitles customers to big savings across our extensive range of wines, including champagnes and fine wines, to prove very popular, especially as belts are tightening at the moment. The vouchers offer a significant discount and a great opportunity to stock up ahead of Christmas.”
Other retailers to cut prices in the run-up to Christmas include Marks & Spencer, which today launched a one-day Sale, as revealed by retail-week.com this week.
The retailer is slashing prices by 20 per cent on the majority of its merchandise. Debenhams is offering up to 25 per cent off in a three-day spectacular, ending tomorrow.
