The off-licence chain issued the vouchers yesterday by e-mail to all its UK consumers. Last year’s offer resulted in Threshers' web site hits soaring to eight times their normal level. At the time, the retailer jumped from 103 to 37 in Hitwise’s ranking of visits to grocery and alcohol web sites.
Last year, it was reported that Threshers had only intended the discount voucher to be available to suppliers and their friends. However, it was speculated at the time that the discount offer had been a clever marketing tool by the high street chain.
