Dr. Vince Cable, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, has been confirmed to deliver a speech at Retail Week Live 2014 on March 12.
Addressing more than 800 retail professionals at Retail Week’s flagship conference, Dr Cable will be speaking on the progress of UKTI’s International Retail Action Plan since he announced it last year and the work BIS are doing to support the UK retail sector.
In his speech at Retail Week Live last year, Cable outlined the Government’s retail investment plans, which it hoped would deliver £500m additional value to the UK economy.
The Government said it wanted to assist up to 1,000 businesses, 600 of them SMEs, to grow internationally in the two years to 2015.
The UK Retail Industry International Action Plan, which was put together by UKTI with retailers, aims to ease the process of gaining access to overseas markets and help store groups engineer smarter supply chains, after identifying these as the two key barriers to overseas expansion.
Attracting the most exciting and influential names and brands in retail, Retail Week Live will take place at the Hilton Metropole, London.
