Trinity Leeds bosses say it is the first shopping centre in Europe to integrate the Apple Watch and Wallet into its loyalty scheme.
The mall, owned by Land Securities, has unveiled an initiative that allows members of its ‘Love Trinity Leeds’ programme to redeem exclusive offers by scanning their Apple Watch in participating stores, bars and restaurants including Topshop and Superdry.
The scheme originally worked by scanning a barcode on a loyalty card but it has been extended to allow customers to access the barcode on an Apple Watch.
‘Love Trinity Leeds’ members using an Apple Watch will also be alerted to retail offers throughout the mall.
‘Convenience is key’
Centre bosses said the integration of Apple Watch into the loyalty scheme “creates a convenient and exciting new dimension to the Trinity Leeds shopping experience”.
Land Securities digital marketing and CRM director Amy Richardson added: “When it comes to loyalty programmes, convenience is key, which is precisely what we are championing by upgrading the ‘Love Trinity Leeds’ app.
“We have been able to successfully integrate the app and Apple systems with our beacon technology in order to create an entirely new dimension for shoppers in an already iconic retail environment.
“Those customers who wear an Apple Watch will be alerted to offers immediately, providing them with an early opportunity to take advantage of numerous fantastic deals across the centre.
“The speed at which consumers can access new offers is becoming increasingly important in the fast-paced world of consumer technology.”
