US clothing retailer Urban Outfitters is preparing to open its third store in the UK, at Covent Garden. It is two years since the company’s last UK opening - in Glasgow - and the new store is on the site previously occupied by Fila.
The 8,000 sq ft (745 sq m) unit, designed by New York-based practice Pompei AD, will retain many of the structural features.
Pompei AD associate Thomas Bittner said it will ‘embody the optimism that characterises the brand, a contrast with the grungy feel of previous stores’.
Shopfitting is being carried out by Simon Construction. Urban Outfitters’ other UK outlet is in Kensington, and there is also a store in Dublin.
