Usdaw national officer Joanne McGuinness said: 'Our members are reporting real hardship. Six weeks without pay is leaving many desperately short of money.
'Some members have told us that they have been struggling to get vital hardship loans from the company. We have pointed out to Kwik Save that these loans are a lifeline for them.'
Last week, Kwik Save was granted another extension to secure additional funds after its staff agreed to work unpaid for an extra week. Manchester High Court has given the discount chain until this Thursday to obtain the funds to safeguard its future. It was the fourth time the case had been adjourned in as many weeks.
