Poundland is expanding its rewards scheme to Scotland

The value retailer has already rolled out its rewards scheme, dubbed Poundland Perks, across 41 stores in Northern Ireland last year, following a trial in four stores on the Isle of Wight.

Poundland Perks is expected to be available on June 13 across 62 stores in Scotland, with a wider UK rollout set to happen at a later date this year.

The rewards app, which can be downloaded in both Apple and Google Play stores, offers points and exclusive discounts in the form of digital vouchers on up to 25 promotional products.

Discounts up to 25% can be redeemed in-store by scanning a barcode in the app at the checkout.

Poundland invested £13m in the rollout of state-of-the-art tills in Scotland that enable customers to use the app on their phone when purchasing their favourite items.

Promotional products are chosen from different categories and changed regularly to allow customers to access new items.

The app also features spin-the-wheel competitions, with prizes consisting of products sent by post or loyalty points in the app.

Poundland Perks forms part of a wider focus in the digital space from Poundland. It relaunched its website last year and is focused on a larger rollout of the rewards scheme.

Poundland managing director Austin Cooke told Retail Week the brand is “moving into the digital space much more”.

He said the expansion of the rewards app is “going great guns”, with more news to come in the following months.

Poundland director of digital Tom Hill said: “Poundland Perks allows us to offer shoppers the chance to save, earn and play through their smartphone, making shopping with us even more fun.

“We’re creating an app that’s convenient and easy for people to use in-store, with reward vouchers that help customers save even more.”
