Home and garden retailer Wilko has revealed the appointment of Amanda Jones as retail director.
Jones joins Wilko from the Post Office, where she currently holds the position of retail and franchise network director. She will join the discount retailer in July.
She has previously held senior leadership roles at John Lewis and Marks & Spencer, and worked in various positions at Waitrose, including head of development and head of food and home.
Speaking about the appointment, Wilko chief executive Jerome Saint-Marc said: “With a passion for products, stores and customers, alongside a high level of enthusiasm to drive transformational change, I have every confidence that Amanda will bring a fantastic set of skills to lead our retail team as we continue to develop our transformation and omnichannel journey as we power to 2030.”
Jones said: “I’m delighted to be joining Wilko at this exciting time in its transformation journey and I very much look forward to leading the retail team.”
Last year, Wilko invested £3m in UK autonomous delivery company StreetDrone in order to bring autonomous deliveries to its customers by 2023.
However, the retailer also revealed plans at the beginning of the year to shut 15 stores across the UK in 2022, a move that threatens 300 jobs.
