The retailer will join tenants that have already signed up, including H&M and House of Fraser, in the retail-led regeneration of the city.
Virgin Megastores spokesman Paul Johnson said: 'Virgin Megastores will continue to trade at the Royal Avenue store, in fact we've recently invested almost£500,000 in a refit. Belfast is an important, fast-growing commercial area for Virgin Megastores and we will be expanding our estate to include a new Virgin Megastore in Victoria Square in 2007.'
The 14,200 sq ft (1,320 sq m) store will be the retailer's second in the city. UK leasing manager for Victoria Square developer AM, Richard Green, said: 'This is no ordinary store and it is going to provide a real buzz for the Ann Street link. It is our aim to continue to attract the best names in entertainment, fashion and leisure to Victoria Square. More announcements are expected to follow soon on other exciting major brands to enter the Belfast marketplace at Victoria Square.'
