Virgin Megastores is enjoying a like-for-like sales surge, after ramping up its music and DVD range over the past 12 months.
Virgin Retail chief operating officer Dennis Henderson said that music like-for-likes for August were up 23.3 per cent on last year, while DVD like-for-like sales rose 90.8 per cent.
Virgin Megastores had doubled its music range and upped its DVD range by 150 per cent. Henderson said: 'This growth is down to the work we've been doing improving our stores and training our store staff.'
Virgin has invested£5 million in staff training and recruiting specialist sales staff.
