Waitrose has become the new publisher of the Good Food Guide as it looks to further build on its reputation as “an authority on good food”.
The upmarket grocer has acquired both the website and the print copy of the Good Food Guide, an annual independent guide to the UK’s best restaurants, from consumer watchdog magazine Which?
Waitrose marketing director Rupert Thomas said: “We aim to be the go to shop for food lovers, and becoming the publisher of this well-loved guide will continue to develop our brand as an authority on good food.
“The Good Food Guide has a loyal following among our customers and we will continue to operate it as an independent authority on eating out within the UK.”
Waitrose already runs its own weekly magazine, Waitrose Weekend, monthly magazine, Waitrose Kitchen and Waitrose TV, and an online portal within its website Waitrose.com.
Sports Direct has also launched a publishing arm. Last month the sports giant published its first sports and fitness magazine Sports Direct.com.
