House of Fraser chairman Michael Wemms is to succeed the British Retail Consor-tium's outgoing chair David Felwick CBE.
Wemms will take the reins from the John Lewis deputy chairman next week.
Felwick retires from JLP in September. Wemms became HoF chairman in 2001 after a long career at Tesco, latterly as retail director.
BRC director general Kevin Hawkins said: 'He (Wemms) has extensive experience of the department store, fashion and food markets, at both strategic and operational level.
'This is exactly the right blend of skills and experience we need to help the BRC tackle the challenges that lie ahead.'
