Westfield Stratford City generated £896m of retail sales in its first year with 47 million visitors entering the shopping centre.
The development benefitted from a surge over the Olympics and Paralympics where over eight million people visited the centre.
Westfield Group co-chief executives Peter Lowy and Steven Lowy said: “The performance of Stratford City has been outstanding with the London 2012 Olympics demonstrating our capacity, expertise and brand to a world audience.”
The 1.9m sq ft shopping centre, which opened in September 2011, has outperformed Birmingham’s Bullring, which attracted 36.5 million visitors in its first year, and Cardiff’s St Davids, which drew in 35 million shoppers in its first 12 months of trading.
Westfield Stratford City attracted more than one million people in its first seven days of trading and, since then, has seen an average of 800,000 visitors per week.
In the UK, developer Westfield said over 99.5% of its property portfolio was leased.
