Directors Andrew Lewis-Pratt, Dianne Thompson and chairman David Williams were all removed at an extraordinary general meeting this morning, after Laxey secured enough votes to get its way.
Williams will be replaced by Jim Hodkinson, currently chairman of both Furniture Village and Ideal Shopping Direct, and former chief executive of New Look.
61 year old Hodkinson, who also spent 26 years with B&Q, said: 'This is a business with a lot of potential and one I know well. After all the discord of the last 12 months this is the right moment for a reconstituted board to come together to take a fresh view of the company's position.'
Robert Ware, Laxey's preferred candidate, has been also appointed as a director and will represent Laxey's interests on the board.
The garden centre group has been a target of activist shareholder Laxey for much of the year and, following an attempt to oust the chairman and board members in September, Laxey has today been successful.
Whevale was advised on Hodkinson's appointment by headhunter Whitehead Mann.
