Garden centre specialist continues to prune estate
Wyevale Garden Centres has sold off three garden centres for£1.8 million. The three centres, based in Burcot, Worcestershire, Wheatley, Oxfordshire and Stains were sold to Hurrans, World of Water and Maidenhead Aquatics respectively.
The centres were under-performing, according to Wyevale, which has closed one unprofitable site, sold seven trading centres and three non-trading properties this year. The sales reaped£6.3 million in cash, resulting in a net loss over net book value of£2.8 million. Wyevale operates 116 centres.
Commenting on today's sale, a spokesman for the retailer said: 'Wyevale Garden Centres is pleased to have sold these under-performing centres, which is in line with the company's strategy.'
