Amazon implemented more than 2.5 million prices changes a day during November, according to price data from intelligence firm Profitero.
The figure is far higher than other retailers, with retailers such as Best Buy and Walmart implementing 50,000 price changes over the same period.
Pricing experts Profitero measured the number of price changes that occurred throughout November, and found Amazon had increased its number of daily price changes by ten-fold over the last 12 months. At the beginning of December 2012 the retailer had implemented just 269,113 changes in a day.
Volodymyr Pigrukh, chief executive of Profitero, described the number of price changes made by Amazon as “staggering”.
In comparison, during November, Best Buy made a total of 52,956 price changes and Walmart a total of 54,633 price changes.
