Asda is closing in on Safeway's number two spot in Scotland, according to Taylor Nelson Sofres market share data.
Asda claims to have increased its market share in Scotland to 17.9 per cent for the 12 weeks to November 10 - a rise of 9.8 per cent year-on-year.
Safeway's share has only increased by 1 per cent to 19.2 per cent in Scotland, while Tesco's share is up 4.6 per cent to 22.2 per cent. Sainsbury's share has increased by 11 per cent to 5 per cent.
Separately, Asda has put a 70-strong range, 'Scotland's Best', in its 34 Scottish stores.
