Harrods chief financial officer John Edgar has exited the luxury department store chain after five years.
He left the business last week “to look for new challenges externally”.
Edgar joined from Harrods in 2012 from Selfridges, where he held the same role. He remains a director at Sale website Vente-Privee.
Edgar has overseen strong financial performance at Harrods, with the luxury department store chain benefiting from the current boom in luxury and wealthy foreign shoppers cashing in on the fall in the pound following Brexit.
Profits rocketed 38.8% to £233.2m while sales jumped 23.3% to £2.1bn in its year to January 2, 2017. The retailer said performance was particularly boosted by Chinese tourists.
A Harrods spokesperson told Drapers: “After nearly five successful years with Harrods, John Edgar has decided to look for new challenges externally.
“John has been instrumental in driving Harrods’ strong financial performance in recent years, and Harrods thanks him for his contribution to the company.”
