JD Sports has snapped up Liam Gallagher-founded fashion retailer Pretty Green days after administrators were appointed.

The sports fashion retailer has acquired the Pretty Green brand, online and wholesale business and its Manchester flagship store, saving 67 jobs.

Pretty Green’s remaining 11 stores and House of Fraser concessions will cease trading with immediate effect, impacting 97 employees, Drapers reported.

Pretty Green, which was founded in 2009 by former Oasis front man Liam Gallagher, appointed Moorfields Advisory as administrators on March 28.

JD Sports executive chairman Peter Cowgill said: “We are pleased to have completed the acquisition of the highly regarded Pretty Green brand. We look forward to working with the team on future positive developments.”

Nicholas O’Reilly and Simon Thomas, who are acting as joint administrators for the fashion retailer, will work with all impacted employees.

Thomas said: ”We are pleased to have secured the sale of the Pretty Green brand. We have worked hard over the last few weeks in challenging circumstances to secure the best outcome for the business, its creditors and its employees.”

“Pretty Green is a popular brand and received a considerable amount of interest. We are confident that JD Sports is the right fit for the business and will help to grow its online and wholesale channels.”
