Morrisons has launched its first-ever school uniform range this month with a flat price of £2 for any item.
The range is aimed at nursery and primary schoolchildren, aged three to 10, and includes essentials such as polo shirts, trousers, skirts and plimsolls.
Morrisons school essentials buyer Rachel Bainbridge said: “This time of year is tough on parents, which is why we’ve made sure we are offering our very best prices on kids’ clothes.”
Morrisons trails behind its big three rivals Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s in terms of its non-food offer. The school uniforms mark its first foray into clothing, outside of accessories such as socks, scarves and hats. It opened a trial Peacocks concession earlier this year, which it will roll out if successful.
A spokeswoman for the grocer said she could not confirm whether Morrisons will launch an own-brand clothing range for adults.
