River Island is set to launch an online shop for third-party menswear brands in a bid to capture a greater share of the market.
The hub will be active at the end of this month. Brands include Bellfield, Hype, Jack & Jones, Lee Jeans, Levi’s, Only & Sons, Schott and Wrangler. Further brands will be added throughout the season.
River Island has been expanding its range recently, adding a standalone kidswear store in Glasgow earlier this year, and upping its focus on technological development, doubling the size of its innovation hub in February.
However, profits slipped at the family-run business during its last full year despite a slight rise in sales.
Operating profit slipped from £145.8m to £135.7m in the year to December 31, 2016, while sales rose 4% from £932.7m to £970.5m.
In selling third-party brands, River Island joins the likes of Asos and Topshop, which both sell third-party brands as well as their own-label product.
