Frasers is set to acquire its way to the top and become the biggest fashion retailer in the UK within the next five years, according to exclusive research by Retail Week and Bloomreach.
The Fashion Forward report, a forecast of the top 30 fashion retailers by 2026, reveals that the Sports Direct and Flannels owner is set to make a significant leap from third to first place in the ranking within the next five years.
The forecast, which calculated the top 30 retailer’s five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR), showed Frasers’ elevation and acquisition strategy would grow the business by 9.2% to £5.6bn by 2026.
The ranking shows Frasers supplanting John Lewis as the biggest mainstream fashion retailer in the UK and leaping ahead of Next, which is forecast to remain in second place despite 5.3% growth.
Retail Week data and insights director Lisa Byfield-Green said: “In the past year, Frasers has snapped up digital-first fashion brands such as Missguided and I Saw it First, while also rebranding its Flannels store on Oxford Street to Flannels X to attract Gen Z consumers.
”Establishing strong relationships with global brands such as Nike is bolstering its sports division, which accounts for the largest share of its sales. With its eye firmly on the mid to premium end of the market, Frasers will continue to deliver a solid sales performance through a clear and considered group strategy.”
