Kwiksave is to return to the high street next month.
Costcutter Supermarkets Group, which trademarked the name last year, will relaunch the defunct grocery store with three new stores.
The convenience stores will have an emphasis on value and mark the first time the brand has been on the high street since it went into administration in July 2007, closing 147 stores in total.
The move is part of a new strategy for the group which has revamped its Costcutter fasia and launched sister premium brand myCostcutter.
Costcutter has 1,600 mainly franchised stores and said it has had “a lot of interest” from potential franchise partners.
Costcutter chief executive Nick Ivel said: “Kwiksave is an iconic brand that was a fixture on the high street for many years. Its core proposition was value and this is something that our new format of kwiksave convenience stores will continue to provide.
“Our three-fascia strategy with kwiksave, Costcutter and myCostcutter ensures we have the correct product for three distinct market segments.
“The kwiksave brand is very familiar to retailers and customers, and is backed up with the exceptional support service that Costcutter Supermarkets Group is famous for.”
Costcutter marketing director Ian Bishop said: “It was important to us to retain elements of the original brand in our new kwiksave convenience stores and develop it into a modern retail proposition, one that customers will immediately identify with.”
