Sainsbury’s has appointed former Lloyds Banking Group director Angie Risley as its new group human resources director.
Risley joins Sainsbury’s next month and will replace current HR director Gwyn Burr who leaves next March.
Risley will take responsibility for corporate, retail and logistics HR, reporting to chief executive Justin King. She will serve on Sainsbury’s operating board.
Risley was group HR director at Lloyds and held the same position at Whitbread prior to that.
She is also a non-executive director at government services firm Serco.
Sainsbury’s chief executive Justin King said: “Angie brings a wealth of experience having worked at board level in a number of large customer facing companies. Our people are the heart of our business and its success, driving great service every day for our customers, and Angie’s track record and reputation make her an excellent addition to Sainsbury’s leadership team.”
