Waitrose shoppers stocked up their freezers with frozen festive goodies in the week ending November 23 as total sales excluding petrol rose 6.5%.
Frozen party food demand leapt by 24%, with shoppers opting for more exotic treats over British favourites. Shoppers picked up 114% more mini oriental snacks compared with sausage rolls seeing a 57% uplift.
The newly-launched Heston from Waitrose Strawberry and Lychee gateau is up 42% on the previous week. And sales of Heston from Waitrose Malted Milk and Marmalade ice cream is up 16% on the previous week.
Waitrose.com sales were up 43.5% compared to the same period last year, while click and collect orders with johnlewis.com were double last year’s levels.
Waitrose’s make your own hampers recorded week on week sales up by 75%, while its Blanc de Noirs Brut NV champagne at £21.99 recorded sales up 315% after scooping a Which? Best Buy award.
