Alliance Boots has begun supplying the Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes (NAAFI), enabling British troops to buy their health and beauty essentials on military bases around the world.
The retailer and pharmaceutical wholesaler will also sell its own brand products, which include No7 makeup and cosmetics.
Products went on sale in four of NAAFI’s largest stores in Germany in Hohne, Fallingbostel, Gütersloh and Sennelager last week. Boots products will be rolled out to a further 32 stores within other military bases in Germany and around the world.
The agreement complements the current partnership Alliance Boots’ UK pharmaceutical wholesaling and distribution business has with NAAFI to supply medicines and other healthcare related products.
Alliance Boots’ new managing director for health and beauty international and brands Ken Murphy said: “We are delighted to be working with NAAFI in offering British troops serving abroad, and their families, the continued opportunity to experience our much loved product brands.
“This agreement further demonstrates the ongoing progress we are making in increasing the accessibility of our product brands around the world.”
The news comes as Alliance Boots health and beauty chief executive Alex Gourlay is appointed to sister retailer Walgreens to lead its customer experience division.
Gourlay will be replaced by Simon Roberts - the current co-chief operating officer of Boots UK, who has been appointed managing director of health and beauty UK and Republic of Ireland - and Murphy, Roberts’ fellow co-chief operating officer.
