Holland & Barrett is set to increase the hourly pay of store colleagues across the country by 9%, bringing the hourly base pay to 5% above the national living wage.
The health and wellness retailer will increase hourly pay for London-based store colleagues from £11.95 to £13, and from £11 to £12 across the rest of the country, on April 1.
Holland & Barrett said the pay rise “puts the health and wellness brand in a strong position among other retailers on the high street, as it looks to attract new staff and retain its talented, highly trained colleagues”.
The retailer said pay for its store-based colleagues has increased by 25% in the last two years, along with other benefits including a 25% staff discount, free online delivery, free wellness diagnostic tests, £50 product allowance and flexible holiday allowance, among others.
Holland & Barrett UK and Ireland chief executive Anthony Houghton said: “We’re known for our amazing, knowledgeable colleagues, who help our customers with their wellness needs. We are delighted to once again be offering a substantial pay increase, alongside our strong benefits plan.
“We have exciting plans for the business in the year ahead and look forward to continuing to provide health and wellness services to customers nationwide for another 150 years.”
