L’Oréal orders staff back to office at least two Fridays every month

L’Oréal has ordered its 87,000 employees to be back in offices across the globe for at least two Fridays every month as it looks to strengthen attendance after introducing hybrid working during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The cosmetic giant employs 4,500 staff in the UK and Ireland and requires employees to work in the office three days a week.

The news comes after L’Oréal’s chief executive Nicolas Hieronimus criticised fully remote working policies at the World Economic Forum.

Hieronimus said: “I know so many employees of so many other companies than L’Oréal that have been working from home for months, that have absolutely no attachment, no passion, no creativity,” he said.

“One of the reasons that we hit the ground running after Covid is that we did not do like many tech companies and say everybody works from home all the time, and now they say: ‘Oh my God, that was a mistake, please come back’.”
